The Protege Still Known As Chris Brown
You want to know another reason why he’s been so successful at such a young age? He started young, that’s how. Word is, he started dancing and entertaining when he was just 2 years old. Then by the time he was 13, he was already being discovered by talent searchers in his hometown in Virginia. It was then that he took his big chance-moving to New York to pursue his entertainment career. Have you ever heard anybody who’s succeeded without taking risks? If so, I’d like to meet him or her!
Going Def at a Young Age
Anyway, for Chris Brown, the move worked out. After a couple years working hard in the Big Apple, he got a break: an audition with Tina Davis of Def Jam. Davis liked Chris so much she ended up becoming his manager. She also sent him out to star maker L.A. Reid. Another gamble? Well, this one paid off as well. L.A. Reid signed him to Jive Records. This was back in 2004.
The next year, work on the first Chris Brown record was already underway. When it came out in 2005, Chris Brown’s fame was solidified. The self-named Chris Brown album scored big with a number one hit called “Run It!” This Chris Brown song was followed by top 10 hits like “Say, Goodbye” and “Yo.”
Chris did not sit back on his laurels. Would you if you were a teenage rap star? You got to get the fame and fortune while you can. The second Chris Brown album, titled “Exclusive,” came out just back in November 2007. The first Chris Brown song off the album was a number one hit again! It was called “Kiss Kiss,” and I am sure you’ve heard of it.
With You at the Top
He didn’t stop there. Another single off this Chris Brown album called 'With You” topped out at number two on the Billboard listing, but has also gotten mad props around the world. That perhaps makes it one of the most successful Chris Brown songs ever.
Probably all this success comes from the fact that the hip hop artist is growing and getting older. What do I mean? His first album, you can argue, was really for kids his own age at the time-you know, 14, 15, 16. Chris has said that his second album and future songs will still be geared to kids his age, but he also hopes to be writing songs that can appeal to the older generation. We shall see. Later this year, Chris is due to release “Exclusive: The Forever Edition,” the same as his second album except with four new songs.
In the meantime, Brown is also getting into the acting gig. Who in hip hop hasn’t, right? Some Chris Brown appearances include stints on the O.C., Sesame Street, as well as the movies “Stomp the Yard” and “This Christmas.”
So you can do more than just listen to Chris Brown now. You can’t help but afford to watch him on the screen too.
