Drexel University invites you to our Hip-Hop Summer Dance Intensive. This intensive is a unique one-week program of technique, theory and foundations for teaching Hip-Hop dance. The Program Director and creator Moncell Durden will be joined by master instructors Sabela Grimes and DeAndre Carol who will be teaching styles ranging from Hip-Hop social party dances, 70's social party dances, locking, top rocking, to popping, house, African, Latin and authentic social Jazz. The curriculum is both strenuous and rewarding, challenging dancers to refine technique and increase knowledge
The Program Format
The dance movement and lecture classes include a comprehensive historical and philosophical perspective on Hip-Hop dance. Students will review media, screen rare dance footage, and listen to music to experience first-hand the rhythms, moods, dynamics, and creative expression that informs what is now know as Hip-Hop dance.

Our Degree Program
The dance major at Drexel University has a unique curriculum design and focus. Rather than focusing on training performers, this program combines rigorous academic coursework with extensive stage and studio dance experiences to prepare students for two possible career paths within dance, dance/movement therapy, and dance in education. Students participating in this major will earn a B.S. degree in dance with an optional minor in psychology. www.drexel.edu/westphal/dance
