CELEBRATING WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
Join Robin Dunn and Leaders in the field of hip hop as we learn and celebrate the roots of a culture that has spread internationally!
NEW YORK CITY -- February 24, 2009 — The Ailey Extension and E.D. Entertainment in association with Divine Rhythm Productions, is proud to present Ladies Get Down (LGD), an event created by hip hop’s well-known and respected, Robin Dunn (E.D. Entertainment) celebrating women in hip hop. In honor of Women’s History Month, the event will feature 8 dance workshop classes taught by some of New York’s top female hip-hop artists, including Robin Dunn, Violeta Galagarza, Kim Holmes, Honey Rockwell, Miriam Morgan, Marjory Smarth, Snapshot & Wandeepop and Tweetie.
The first annual LGD Salute Awards Presentation and Open Cypher pays homage to women who have contributed to the proliferation of hip hop dance and culture. Key women will be recognized for their work as artists, performers and community leaders. There will be special guests and honorary performances in addition to a cypher where these amazing women will have the opportunity to show off their skills. Participation by both men and women of all ages and levels is highly encouraged!

Robin Dunn has worked with some of the top artists in the business including Saturday Night Live, Pepsi, Nickelodeon, Apollo Amateur Night, Missy Elliot, The Braxtons featuring Jay Z (Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards), Teen Vogue featuring Jive recording artist Chris Brown, Disney's own Raven Symone, Sean Kingston and more. She is currently on faculty at The Ailey School and The Ailey Extension, Hunter College, and Steps On Broadway. Robin continues to tour the world as a F.A.C.E. coach/ motivational speaker and hip hop instructor.
Open to the general public, The Ailey Extension features dance and fitness classes in a wide variety of techniques for all levels, including Horton, West African, Ballet, Hip Hop and Jazz, underscoring Mr. Ailey’s life-long commitment of bringing dance to everyone. The Ailey Extension was launched in April 2005 in conjunction with the opening of the Joan Weill Center for Dance (405 West 55th Street at 9th Avenue), Ailey's permanent home and the nation's largest building dedicated to dance.
