Lil Scrappy Fighting His Way to the Top
After all, who else but Lil Scrappy, before he even turned 20, had their song as the official theme for the Atlanta Braves National League baseball team? What song was that? That 2003 Lil Scrappy song was "Head Bussa," and the Braves baseball team adopted it for their entire 2004 season. And who else but Lil Scrappy could get discovered in a rough bar in his hometown of Atlanta? And discovered by Lil Jon at that?! And then how about his other Lil Scrappy single, called "No problem," which went all the way to 29 on the Billboard charts?
Thanks to Lil Jon signing Lil Scrappy to a record deal with BME Recordings, along with Reprise and G-Unit Records, the young rap act was able to release his debut album in 2006. That Lil Scrappy record was "Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live." Besides the head man on the record, the tracks were far from short on talent. Appearances were made by the likes of Eminem, Three 6 Mafia, and 50 Cent, among many others. Not a bad debut, right?
More Than Just Scraps
The Lil Scrappy record garnered more than just the scraps of the hip hop market. What do I mean? The first Lil Scrappy song off the record, called "Money in the Bank," went to score in the top 30 of the charts, becoming his biggest hit ever. Some of the other Lil Scrappy songs off the album include "Gangsta, Gangsta," which Lil Jon performs on with him, and "Oh Yeah."
Keep your eyes out for Lil Scrappy going forward. He could have as many as two new albums coming out this year. The first Lil Scrappy album coming out new would be "Prince of the South." You could also see the other Lil Scrappy record called "Grustle."The Future for Lil Scrappy
And as he's done in the past, you might even hear Lil Scrappy lyrics on other folks' albums or in compilations. Why now? Why not? After all, one of his biggest breaks came when he was on the compilation album "The King of Krunk & BME Recordings Present: Trillville and Lil Scrappy." The King of Krunk is of course Lil Jon, who all but invented this genre of rap music that fuses Southern rap, bass rap, disco, and other sounds into a low-down, dirty mix of fun. But of course you knew that, right?
And Lil Scrappy got his start doing mix tapes, after all. That was how he got himself noticed in the Hotlanta area at first in the early 2000s, when he first got discovered in that bar we talked about earlier.
